Delta State University faculty recital to be held at Co-Lin
Dr. Douglas Mark and pianist Dr. Jung-Won Shin, both associate professors of music at Delta State University, and violinist Anne-Gaëlle Ravetto will present a faculty recital at C-Lin on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at 11 a.m. in the Stanley Stewart Auditorium located in the Ewing Fine Arts Building. The recital is free and open to the public.
The recital will include works for trombone, euphonium, piano and violin by Hilda Sehestedt, Valentin Bogdan, Alec Wilder, Jeffrey Agrell and Philip Sparke.
In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Dr. Mark has performed with several orchestras, including the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, Syracuse Symphony Orchestra and the Binghamton Philharmonic Orchestra. Locally, he has performed with the Memphis Symphony Orchestra, Mississippi Symphony Orchestra, Tupelo Symphony (North Mississippi Symphony Orchestra) and the Delta Symphony. He has been an artist-in-residence at the Banff Centre for the Arts. An advocate of community music projects, Dr. Mark has participated in the NEA Chamber Music Rural Residency in Liberal, Kans. He has performed internationally in Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Mexico, Russia and Taiwan. He serves as an artist/clinician for Antoine Courtois Paris trombones.
Dr. Shin is an associate professor of music at Delta State University. She has appeared in concerts in the United States, Korea, and Canada, performing piano solo and duo works, instrumental chamber works, collaborative vocal works and choral music. Dr. Shin has been selected as a finalist at several solo, chamber music, and concerto competitions, such as the Bradshaw & Buono International Piano Competition, the Annual Kankakee International Piano Concerto Competition, and the Korean Festival Ensemble Chamber Music Competitions.
Ravetto, an adjunct faculty member in Delta State University’s Department of Music, serves as a collaborative artist, as she provides instruction in music education and through private lessons. She has performed at numerous music festivals and academic conferences including the Heidelberg Castle Festival, the Ohio Light Opera, the College Music Society-Southern Region, the Big 12 Trombone Conference and the American Trombone Workshop. Regional recital appearances include Rhodes College, University of Memphis, Henderson State University and UT- Martin, among others.
