Senior Employment

The Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) provides part-time employment for men and women age 55 years and older with limited incomes. Enrollees are assigned to positions that revitalize and enhance their job skills while supporting local nonprofit and governmental agencies. The program is designed to promote the transition of participating enrollees into unsubsidized employment.
Co-Lin SCSEP consists of programs funded through Senior Services America, Inc. and Southwest Mississippi Planning and Development District. Under the Older Americans Act, both programs are funded through grants from the U.S. Department of Labor. Federal monies cover wages, fringe benefits, and support services for enrollees. Local sponsor agencies provide most other project costs.
Project worksites in nonprofit or governmental host agencies are carefully selected to furnish supervision, instruction, and training for assigned SCSEP participants. Host agencies also agree to consider hiring enrollees whenever job openings occur.
The SCSEP staff directs and oversees all projects to assure compliance with federal regulations and SCSEP policies and procedures.
